Dan has been in the land surveying industry for 22 years. His first position was in St. Paul, Minnesota following graduation from Nicolet Area Technical College with his Associates Degree of Applied Science, Land Survey Technician instructed by John Margitan, PLS. In 2000, after two years of fast paced surveying with Melchert/Walkky Inc., Dan made a life directing decision to move to Livingston, Montana. Having the desire to see new country, wide open spaces, and the Big Sky for its legendary hunting and fishing, Dan was fortunate to work at Latvala and Associates in Clyde Park for 7 years, (a short period of Latvala, Boers and Associates). In the 7 years with Latvala, Dan was able to cut his teeth in true cadastral surveying and the legal understanding of boundaries, ownership and the bundle of rights that go with it. During that time, Dan passed his Land Surveyor Intern exam, and subsequently, in 2005, passed the Professional Land Surveyor exam at 27 years of age. In 2007, he took an opportunity to join Morrison-Maierle, Inc. in Bozeman where he started as Task Manager and explored the great States of Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming while performing large cadastral surveys and assisting in various civil projects across the West. After 10 incredible years at Morrison-Maierle, Dan left his role as Land Survey Office Group Leader to chase his passion of land surveying. He had to get back to diggin’ holes, flippin’ stones, hoppin’ fences and gettin’ sun burnt and frost bit (Surveyors, you know what I am saying). This opportunity to create Boers Land Surveying and Mapping, Inc. and provide outstanding professional service to our communities is second to none. When Dan isn’t perfecting his research and measurements, he can be found pointing out to his wife, (Holly, she is the bookkeeper and receptionist) and his two boys, all the points he has set and the hills he has climbed throughout the West.
